Applications Sought For Generation Listen Founding Board


October 2, 2017 – Texas Public Radio (TPR) is calling on young professionals, influencers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about creating a more informed and civically engaged public.  Aimed at millennials who have a knack for community building and a love of public radio, TPR’s Generation Listen Leadership Council will help influence and inform the next generation of TPR, its listeners and supporters.

As the founding group, the Leadership Council will work with TPR staff and stakeholders to create and offer programming, content and events that reflect our community, expand our reach and increase support for TPR with listeners between 18 and 34 years of age.  In addition to establishing a ‘Generation Listen’ level for general TPR membership, the group will also host a series of social, cultural and educational events and play a significant role in TPR’s scheduled move in 2019 to the historic Alameda Theater, in downtown San Antonio, along the San Pedro Creek.

Co-Founder Speaks at Yale University

15284191_10108619577629210_3055745741987246445_nOne of SAYP’s co-founders, Faris Virani, recently spoke at Yale University for the 2016 Young Professionals Symposium.  Virani spoke on utilizing networks like San Antonio Young Professionals and Connecticut Young Professionals to build your personal network, professional network, and improve your quality of life.  A major takeaway and piece of advice from the talk was to plug in and get to know people on a personal level regardless of your motive (business or pleasure); not only will you have a potential business connection, you will have a friend and improve the quality of life in your community.
